Here in Chile, it is the middle of winter! The children have had their winter holidays and the snow has covered the top of the surrounded mountains in Santiago.
I have never experienced this season in Chile before, and I was very anxious when I arrived cause I was ready for summer after spending winter in France… But in Chile, days vary from sun and rain and hot and cold everyday! It is hard to predict what the whether would be like tomorrow! I like that because it is not always rainy and cold! Some days temperatures go up to 25 degrees, and those are my favs! However nights remain cold whether you are out for a drink or inside your home. Most people don’t heat their homes with central heating in Santiago, they use electric ones, hot water bottle and tons of blankets… It has something cosy, because at home, we tend to share dinner all together with my housemates and heat one room with our everlasting conversations, warm Argentinian mate and dulce de leche tea, grilling the bread, making lasagne…
On Sunday, I try to escape Santiago’s pollution and discover winter landscapes. Today, I am taking you 1h30 away from Santiago: to Los Andes, a town located on the way to Mendoza, Argentina, on the feet of the Andes mountains, on the Chilean side. The first photo is at the Bus terminal in Santiago, a block away from where we use to live with Marcella in 2011!
I hope you have now a nice vision of winter in Chile, I have never been such a mountain person before living in Chile, now I always want to find a spot in the city where you can admire the gigantic Andes covered with snow after a rainy day.
