So, I’ve been thinking…I often hear people say “I need to get out of London for a few days!”, and I completely understand why people feel like they need a break away from busy, bustling and buzzing city life. However, I never feel like I need an escape from life in the city.
I am a city girl, through and through. I love the city for always being awake, I love the variety of things to do, I love the vibrancy of cities, cities make me happy. That’s not to say I don’t enjoy a countryside trip, actually I feel completely the opposite! Some of my favourite and most special travel adventures have been trekking in the mountains and long walks through terrain that can only be tackled in hiking boots. Many of my favourite travel adventures have taken place in remote and totally natural places where the scenery has made my jaw drop open, and I have snapped hundreds upon hundreds of photos. What I am trying to say is that I don’t crave the countryside but I love it when I am there. I never feel a need to escape the city, but I love a holiday in the countryside.
When in St Ives earlier this year, Carlos and I were walking along the costal path, as we walked further on we saw less and less people and I asked Carlos if he ever felt he needed to get away from the city, he replied that he didn’t but that he loved being in the countryside too. This is exactly how I feel, I don’t ‘need’ the escape of the countryside but I love it when I am there.
I’m interested to hear what you think? Do you need time away from the city?
