Three Years of Blogging

Happy New Year!  I hope you all had a wonderful festive season and have had a lovely start to 2017, it’s crazy that we are now already half way through January.

Yesterday, I arrived back to summer in Santiago (feeling very hot in my Ugg boots and layers) after two-and-a-half weeks in London and now, I’m ready to get back to blogging!

Last week, on 12th January, I marked three years of blogging.  I can’t quite believe it’s been three years, but at the same time, I can’t imagine not having this blog!  Blogging is a great hobby to have, so I thought I’d write about why I love it so much.

A diary

A blog is like having a diary full of photos and memories.  For the past three years, I have documented almost all of my adventures, big and small, on the blog.  With the click of a button, I can look back to what I was doing at a certain time.DSC06984DSC05338El Calafate and El Chalten 144DSC_0253DSCF4367

Sharing

I’ve always loved taking photographs.  The reason I actually started my blog was because I wanted to share my photos as I felt that they were just sitting on my laptop.  Blogging also makes you think more about the photos you are going to share.DSC_0256DSC04605

Writing

I know some bloggers prefer the photography side of blogging, and others prefer the writing side.  I prefer the photo side, but have come to really enjoy the writing side of it too.  Writing can be a time of reflection, which is always a good therapeutic activity.DSC06787DSC04228

Friends – the very best part of blogging.

When I started blogging, I had no idea about the blogging community.  I knew about famous bloggers, who made their living from blogging but I didn’t have a clue about the communities that develop amongst other bloggers.

I consider myself to have bloggers friends spotted all over the globe.  Girls who inspire me with the words and photos.  Who share their adventures in the same way as I do.  And, there really is nothing better than meeting blogger friends in real life.  I’m so so lucky to have met five of my lovely blogger friends IRL (Camila, Lauren, Michelle, Rachel and Jessi), and I hope I get to meet even more of you in the coming years.DSC04448

Cheers to year number three, and to an exciting upcoming one!

What’s the best thing about blogging to you?

Marcella xx

P.S.  Wanderful Wednesday will be back this Wednesday and I can’t wait to read all of your posts! 🙂

  1. I’m with you on the sharing photos bit. That’s been my favorite part, too. I feel sad that they just live on my hard drive!! Happy 3 years!! Can’t wait until tomorrow!

  2. Congrats on three years of blogging! I’m right there with you in loving that I have a diary of everything that happened during our lives over a period. It’s so much fun to go back and read about the small memories that I’m sure that I’d forget if it wasn’t for this blog. Plus I love getting to know great bloggers like yourself too!

  3. Congrats on three years! I so agree that friends are the best part of blogging, I so enjoyed meeting you and it’s like instant friends. Ok so technically we met once already but that just makes it all EVEN MORE serendipitous. Beautiful photos as ever – the moth (is it a moth??) one is stunning.
