Puerto Varas is famous for it’s beautiful views of Volcano Osorno. For our first few days in the city, it was hard to believe that there was a volcano hidden behind the thick clouds.
That was until the very last day, when the the fluffy white clouds gave us a glimpse of the top. That was our cue to go and see the view, and it was a great one! I couldn’t quite believe that during ski season, you can ski down the volcano! Which means, they have a ski lift! One you can go up when it isn’t ski season, to admire the beautiful view of Lago Llanquihue (Llanquihue Lake), Chile’s second largest lake.
Higher up into the clouds we went, where the winds got stronger and the views got that bit more beautiful with gorgeous lighting.
On top of the world!
Something as fun as going up a volcano is always going to be good, and it’s even better when you get such spectacular views below while feeling as if you are submerged in the clouds!

Some amazing views!
It was beautiful!
I’ve been enjoying your photos from Chile outdoors a lot! those are beautiful views. And the volcano is beautiful! The ones we have in Greece are mostly under water (Santorini and Methana).
Thanks so much Anna! 🙂 And an underwater volcano sounds incredible.
What a beautiful volcano! Would be so awesome to actully see a volcano up close and personal one day! #WanderfulWednesday
It was really cool, especially since it was snow capped!
Wow! Such stunning views of the lake – love all the photos you captured. (Also, as a somewhat reluctant walker/hiker, I love that there’s a ski life working even out of ski season!)
Thanks so much! 🙂 I would have loved to have hiked it, but it was fun to take the ski lift this time around.
Thanks for sharing these breath-taking views! What a wonderful experience you had !
Thank you! It was lots of fun 🙂
I’ve never been on the volcano, just near it 🙂 (Vesuvius in Italy)
That’s fun! It’s great that I am getting to experience these things in Chile 🙂
What a beautiful volcano! Mt. Fuji passes its regards 😀
Thanks! We were so in sync with our posts this week 🙂
We were indeed! 🙂
Wow!!
😀
Skiing down the volcano? That must be awesome. #WanderfulWednesday
Imagine it! As a non-skier, the thought kind of terrifies me but sounds fun all at the same time!
When you said that you went up to the top once the clouds lifted I was wondering how you’d get up there before the clouds closed in again. A chair lift is the perfect solution! Especially if looking at that volcano in a photo makes your legs tired! Beautiful place! #WanderfulWednesday
I’m so glad that we had the chance to see it without the clouds and with them too, they both created such different feelings!
Beautiful! What a gem! Chile is stunning!
Isn’t it just!!
Spectacular views and fabulous photos, as always! Chile is full of surprises!
Thanks! 🙂 Chile always amazes me!
Skiing on a volcano? That’s a bucket list item for sure! Gorgeous pictures!
I can’t imagine it, it must be crazy!
The snow looks amazing!! What an interesting dichotomy – snow on a volcano (even if it’s dormant right now)!!
It really was a beautiful sight! 🙂
What a beautiful beautiful place! It’s so weird when you finally see something like that isn’t it? We walked the circumference of a dead volcano in Japan, and when we finally saw Mount Fuji it was just breathtaking! 🙂 #wanderfulwednesday
That must have been just amazing! It certainly sounds like it was 🙂
That is SO COOL that you can ski down a volcano!!! I want to do that, though my skill level is probably not even close to there. But so awesome to go up on a ski lift. How long did the lift take to get up to the top?
Isn’t it?! I can’t imagine it, but having said that, I’ve never been skiing. I hope I get to change that this winter in Chile! And it wasn’t long, it took about 15 mins!
That is so incredible!! I’ve always wanted to see a volcano up close and that feeling up literally standing in the clouds must be so amazing!
It was really special! So much beauty 🙂
The scenery is just incredible! I’m so glad you got a clear view of the volcano.
We were too, it was amazing 🙂
Oh my gosh only Chile would have a chair lift on a volcano haha!
It’s amazing! Love Chile 😉
Spectacular photos as always! How fantastic to be in the clouds 🙂
Thanks so much! It was a great experience!
Mandy and I were in awe of the skies down in Southern Chile. Seriously they are just too gorgeous to be true. You got some beautiful shots here and I”m glad the clouds cleared up for you at least one of the days! We only had about a 15 minute glance at the top when we went hehe
We were lucky! I thought we were going to end up not seeing anything!
this is really great!
hope you check my blog too 😃
Thanks!
Those pictures are breathtaking. I would love to visit this place soon, Marcella!
It was so pretty! I’m still dreaming of it 😀
